This photo shows surf fishermen on the beach with their four wheel drive vehicle. Without four wheel drive you cannot make it through the sand. Even with four wheel drive it gets tough at times. You can get a permit to put your vehicle on the beach after Labor Day. http://www.emeraldisle-nc.org/
