Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. No it is not snowing in Selma; I took this photo some years back. The Charlie Brown characters at Christmas have been a tradition at our house for 35 years. Thanks, Charles Schultz and a Merry Christmas to all.

Silent Night

All is quiet at the Selma Union Station. But I am reminded of the times back in the forties when this station was bustling. People would be waiting on Christmas Eve for the 10:55 from New York, hoping that their loved ones would arrive in time for Christmas.
From Selma, North Carolina – USA, we wish for you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday. And most of all – PEACE.

Caroling 2007 Style

I got the Christmas spirit tonight when a group of carolers stopped in front of my house and sang. We used to take the kids in the neighborhood caroling at Christmas, but that tradition has long gone. Glad to see this group from Edgerton United Methodist Church is bringing it back.

Next Year

While doing a shift at the Selma Visitors Center, I looked out the window and saw two crape myrtle trees across the street. I visualized the trees decorated with white lights for Christmas and thought to myself it might look cool. So while taking Christmas decoration pictures of uptown Selma the other night, I took this one. Went home and downloaded the files and with the help of Photo Shop, I added the white lights to the trees. What do you think? Maybe next year for real.

Drum Sticks

This is what the turkey looks like after you take it out of the deep fryer. We cooked this bird in a gas fired deep fryer. And yes we had the fryer in the middle of the yard about 30 feet away from any buildings. I was good.

December 01

It’s beginning to look like Christmas in Selma. This is the barber shop that I go to for hair cuts. The SDP sponsors a Christmas decorating contest for the merchants every year. Looks like the barber shop has a good shot at placing in the top this year.
