The old Opera House

Back in the 1930’s the Opera House and movies were in the second floor of this building.
It has been converted to Treasury Antiques.

Cold in Selma

It has been so cold in Selma that the snow we had this weekend is hanging around.

We got out first snow of the year this weekend. It was predicted to be 1 – 4 inches but it fell short of that, not enough to make a snowman.

January being a slow month for taking pictures (no snow here) I decided to spend some time with the antique dealers. This is a lamp that I found at TWM’s Antiques.

River Bridge

In the background you can see the highway 70 bridge that carries traffic into downtown Smithfield. In the foreground you can see the remains of the old river bridge.

Walking Trail

This is the walking trail beside the Neuse river in Smithfield. Makes for a nice winter photo.

The Neuse River

I was in Smithfield today. Smithfield and Selma share a boundary line. I stopped at the park and took this picture of the Neuse river. Last week it was so dry that you could see the bottom of the river. We had some rain west of here, made a lot of difference in the water level.

Amtrak to Washington.

The passenger train comes through Selma. It will stop at the Union Station about three blocks from here. Pick up passengers and pull out for the trip the Washington DC.

All is Quiet

Things are quiet and cold in Selma today.
