Santa in April

I was down town Selma sitting on a bench when I looked up and saw Santa looking down at me. The July and August sun might do a number on this plastic Santa.

Time to Plant

Black Rabbit

This is the neighborhood rabbit. Not your run of the mill small gray rabbet, but a large black rabbit. This rabbit probably started out as someone’s pet.

I was at the depot when I took this photo. You can see the signal lights, switching station and the now famous water tower in the background.

The First Rose

This is the first rose that I have seen this spring. I took this picture in my neighbor’s back yard. This is a climbing variety mounted on a trellis.

I was in my neighbor’s back yard taking flower pictures when I lucked up on this shot. Looks like the bird is checking out the bird house as a nesting location. Don’t know what kind of bird this is – if you know please let us know.

Fireman’s Rainbow

I was taking pictures this weekend of a firemen training session when I captured this photo. The fireman was checking the hose and nozzle and the spray created this rainbow.

Red and Yellow Hibiscus

This is one of the flower photos that I took at Dewayne’s last Saturday. This is one of my favorite plants. You put them in a pot and give them water and they will bloom all summer right into fall. http://www.dewaynes.com/

Another Dogwood

This is probably the last dogwood picture that I will post this spring. The blooms are starting to turn and are being blown off by the wind.

Signs, Signs, Signs

I was at the intersection of 70 and I95 taking pictures for a project that I am working on and got this shot. In this country we love our road and information signs. I know you younger drivers say your GPS will make signs obsolete one day, but for me I will continue to use the signs, the bigger the better.

Fountain

I was at DeWayne’s Home & Garden in Selma today and came across this lovely fountain. This would make a nice addition to my back yard, but I am not up to running the plumbing right now. Water Tower

This is Selma’s award winning water tower. I remember reading in the Selma News about Selma getting an award for the design on our water tower. I suggested that the tower be illuminated at night, didn’t get a second. I think you will agree it would make a great night photo.

Boy and Caboose

I was at the depot last week taking pictures of the cherry trees when I was presented with this pose. The little boy is looking at the locked gate trying to figure out how to get inside the caboose.

Pink Dogwood

This is a picture of a pink dogwood tree. You don’t see as many pink trees as you do white. A few years back I purchased a pink dogwood. The first year it bloomed it turned out to be white, the next year it died.

You can see that the dogwood trees are in full bloom in Selma. The tree in the background is just starting to bud.

This is a close up of a small dogwood tree in my back yard. The dogwood trees are in full bloom in Selma, makes for a beautiful time of year.

The Spring Flush

I took this picture on Webb St. We have had some cold wet weather, but the dogwood trees are in full bloom.

Stack of Pots

It is just about time to clean these pots up and get ready for the spring planting.
Now back to the ball game – Go Carolina.

Sprinkler Pump

This is a picture of the water pump that I use for watering my grass in July and August.
Sure beats paying for water and sewer charge. I can hit water at 14 feet – this well is about 25 feet. Not the best looking site but I have it in the back yard out of view.

This is my buddy next door. I believe that he was in a gallop because he got a call for supper.

This red bird is checking out this old bird house. I guess I need to get my out there and clean it out. Get it ready for a now season.

April Theme Day – Water

It was raining to hard for me to go out and take a picture of water.
So I took the easy way out – I pulled up this old picture of the pond in front of the cemetery. This picture was taken 3/7/2001 – I will try to do better next month.
