This is the new 70 Clayton bypass that opened a few weeks ago. The bypass cuts through some of the most scenic part of Johnston County. Beautiful rolling hills and open fields. Can’t wait for the fail foliage – I will be taking pictures to post.

The 3 NC Presidents

”Presidents North Carolina Gave the Nation - This work honors the three presidents born in North Carolina: Andrew Jackson of Union County, seventh president of the United States (1829-1837); James Knox Polk of Mecklenberg County, eleventh president of the United States (1856-1869); and Andrew Johnson of Wake County, seventeenth president of the United States (1865-1869). Betty Boop and Pinocchio

I took this photo of Betty in the display window of Visual Pleasure Antiques in Selma. http://www.visualpleasureantiques.com/
Betty Boop made her first appearance on August 9, 1930 in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes . Betty Boop is known as the first and one of the most famous sex symbols on the animated screen; she was a symbol of the depression era, a reminder of the more carefree days of The Jazz age flapper.

Fireworks on Raiford St.

Selma is unique when it comes to fireworks. You close off Raiford St. and bring everyone downtown to watch from a perfect vantage point. The fireworks are discharged on the other side of the railroad tracks at the end of the street. More fireworks pictures at www.selmanc.info

Moving in

We got this ceramic bird house as a gift. We asked the question, would a bird build a nest in this?
We hung the ceramic bird house from the eve of the house over the patio and totally forgot about it. This week I saw the pine straw protruding from the opening. Today I took this picture. Guess birds will build a nest in a ceramic bird house.
