Grand Entrance

This is the grand entrance of the train station in Rocky Mount. This was a busy place back in the 1940’s when train passenger service was the way to travel.

Where the tracks cross

This is a picture of the restored and operational Union Station in Selma.
We have two tracks that run north and south and one track that runs east and west. All of our trains are slow speed. We don’t have high speed trains like you do in other countries.

View through the skylight.

I took this picture of the skylight while sitting on a bench in the Medical Mall in Smithfield. The snow on the outside of the glass looks like clouds in a Carolina blue sky. Hope I did now boor you with snow pictures, I will try to take some pictures of uptown Selma next week.

Snow covered bushes

I have never seen the snow build up on the fence, bushes and tree limbs the way this snow did. I wanted to go down town and take some pictures along the railroad tracks but this old man is not up to that just yet.

Morning sun on the barn.

I wanted to capture the morning sun on the barn and snow covered bushes.

The rising sun.

This took this shot from inside the house through the patio window. What I was trying to capture was the morning sun illuminating the snow covered tree branches.

Snow covered trees.

I was standing in thee middle of the street when I took this shot. I wanted to have a straight shot down the street. Either I screed up or the street bares to the left.

The lamp and flag.

This shot was zoomed out about 300 mm. Makes the lamp and flag look like they are close together.

I was using my old Olympus 2100 Uz camera; this shot was zoomed out to about 200 mm.

View from my driveway

I took this picture of my neighbor’s yard while I was standing in my driveway. As you can see, the snow did not stick on the sidewalk or driveway.

The big snow

We had a snow in Selma a couple of days ago. To us it was a big snow because it seldom snows in Selma. This snow started about 2 am. And it was all gone by 11 am. I got up early that morning and took some pictures. In the coming days I will post some of the pictures that I took.

Barren Trees

Most of the trees in our neighborhood are totally bare like these, waiting for the spring budding season.

Kerosene Wick Lanterns

I took this picture from the street of this collection of antique kerosene lanterns sitting on the top of this fire wood storage bin.

Fire Hydrant

Just a simple freshly painted fire hydrant. The grass is obviously winter grass of some sort. All of the other yards have brown grass.

Holly Tree

It was a cold and windy day but as you can see the sky was a Carolina blue. The tree is a very large holly tree with some Christmas berries still hanging on.

Winter Berries

Today was the first day that I have taken pictures outside of the house since my surgery back in November.
My wife got me out of the recliner and suggested that we take a walk, then I could get some exercise and take pictures at the same time. It was slim pickings on the pictures. This is a pictures of some berries on a bush.
